Does not allow for enough recording time when used with Ipod. I returned it and bought a digital recorder instead.

With my mikey the right pickup works fine..
but the left pickup records cracking noise in certain levels. and it doesn’t get the pure sound as the right one does… and the recording level is lower also…..
this makes the mikey a pure junk I say…

Mikey didn’t like it. I am trying to use it with my iTouch. My unit came without instructions. I was finally able to locate a tiny switch on the back that was supposed to select the sensitivity. Only records when the ‘blue’ light is on under the single wavey indicator. Even then, you can barely hear the resulting recording on the built-in speaker. I was able to e-mail the resulting recording to my Mac and using QuickTime I could hear it quite well. I wouldn’t recommend this unit to anyone for any purpose.

This unit was the biggest dissapointment….. I was so pumped i’m a musician and I love blue microphones. I’m always coming up with ideaz that I speak or sing into recorders
and such what ever I’ve had handy. I have an older mike from belkin for 3rd gen Ipod which was pretty kool but they’ve phased that style out so I was looking for something new I have an ipod classic. The review that said it wasn’t compatible with the classic was spot on. YOu could barely hear the recording it sounded crappy The concept and marketing for this is great. Would’ve been nice if some of it was actually true rightttt. I didn’t even mind that it was cheaply made and not in the same class as the blue mics just so long as it worked. I wouldn’t want this for free. btw I did call tech support. they never hit me back. That’s a big no no for any company. U made it support it or don’t sell it until you can make it right….. Don’t buy this unit. (and the nerve to charge that kind of money for this whew)

For about $65 I was expecting a lot better. It doesn’t work on my iPod Touch and sort of works on my iPod Classic.
When I plug Blue Mikey into either iPod, Mikey’s blue LED lights up and Mikey emits a very slight squealing noise for several seconds before it quiets down. Not a big deal but for $65, come on!
- – On the iPod Touch
When launching the Voice Memo app: “No Microphone Available. Connect a microphone to record voice memos.” Oh well, this is probably my fault as the product description doesn’t explicitly state that Blue Mikey is not compatible with the iPod Touch.
However, I did try the Blue Mikey speaker with my Touch but was again let down. The iPod Touch built-in speaker sounds so much better. The Mikey speaker sounds tinny and weak in comparison. Cheap cheap cheap and tinny!
- – On the iPod Classic
Ya! It records… sort of, after you wait several seconds. When you start to record, the on screen counter sits there and the unit isn’t actually recording. You have to wait a few seconds first. I’m not sure if this is an iPod issue or another Blue Mikey Quirky.
- – On either iPod
Blue Mikey’s connector is somewhat larger than it looks in the photo and will require you to remove most iPod protective cases in order to plug Mikey in far enough.
- – Major Flaw
The Blue Mikey plug doesn’t actually “clip” into to the connector slot securely like the iPod USB charging cable. Blue Mikey simply slips in and will easily fall right out unless you use the iPod very gently and don’t move it much.
It looked good in the picture but Blue Mikey is really cheaply made and cheesy. This is the type of disposable product you find for $5 or so at a garage sale or flea market. You know the type… like all of those other little stupid useless gadgets that accumulate at the bottom of your desk drawer and never use because they’re junk!
In my 10 years buying from Amazon, this will be my first ever product return! I hope it’s as easy as they claim.
