KRS-1 at Karma Lounge
Author: sweetfeet03 23rd, 2009
Geez this month is moving by soooo fast, but I didn’t mind that this weekend came so quickly. I new that in store was a memorable concert. KRS-1 perfomed at Karma nightclub in Ventura. A man of much knowledge blessed the people with his music and words. With lots of gret opening emcees, KRS’s performance was highly anticipated and the whole crowd was buzzin’. Everyone was really chill but I was so excited I thought I might jump outta my skin. As KRS stepped onto the stage the crowd got livid, and you could feel the energy level go straight up and penetrate everything surrounding. After a few opening songs a b-boy cypher started and you know I had to get in and rep some b-girls along with another chica who held the floor down. KRS paused in the middle of the show to drop some knowlege about peace and mindfullness abouth our surroundings. That mans words were heavy. He also gave a shout out to all forms of Hip hop and empowered everyone to create peace for our future.
- DJ Sonic showin off his b-boy steez.
- B-girl clownin’ on the b-boys
- Reppin’ for b-girls

Club U-31 w/ Armory Massive
Author: sweetfeet01 7th, 2009

The pefect way to end the first Saturday of 09′ was at U-31. The young man who persuaded me to go was a sweet fella from the Armory crew, Henry, shout out to him for making an awesome suggestion.
The club was alive and buzzin after the nail-biting Charger win in overtime. I have never seen so many Sproles jerseys in my life. Cros1 started setting up the turn tables quick after the game and began playin music swiftly after. When we first arrived (my brother, a.k.a.partner in crime, and I) it was kinda quiet. But as soon as 10 p.m. rolled around it was packed, and by 11 peeps were waiting in like there was a Jabbowakeez signing.
The music was fun with a theme of 80′s & 90′s in full effect (which I happen to especially love) All the DJs were on point getting everyone outta their chairs and on the dance floor. The vibe was chill at the same time full of energy and animation.
The bartenders held it down at the bar, dealing with a ton of thirsty patrons and all the way with smiles on their faces. Shout out to Devin my fave bartender who tending the bar with flare , tossing bottles and spinning glasses with all kinds off jazz. Can’t imagine why all the ladies were giggling over him. (wink, wink) hmmm…
All in all, the night was a explosive and the music was a hit. The DJs used great beats, and the people moved the dance floor, and U-31 was an excellent host. This spot is for real a place to go when you want to dance. I look forward to going again.
On my way out of U-31 I got a chance to exchange a few words with Cros, he mentioned the Armory in downtown was being dolled up(so keep your eye out for that)he also said that 80′s & 90′s night will be changing from Saturdays to Thursdays starting this Thursday the 8th. This is going to be the spot to be at on a Thursday night. As I headed out Cros shook my hand and thanked me for coming out and supporting the Armory. Never being a man too busy for his supporters Cros came out of the club and talked with the people waiting in line.
Waiting for the taxi, I took a second to reflect on the night, good music, good people and I go to me a a hip hop pioneer, the man behind Freestyle session, owner of Armory,… when he asked me my name, … I couldn’t remember. Damn.
(Note to self: wear name tag)
